The project ‘core activities’ are:
- The production of online tools for teachers and children
- Teacher training
- The testing of methods and tools with children, migrant-children and their parents focusing on intercultural dialogue that addresses social exclusion
- Testing. 'Creativity Labs' for the development of expertise in combating poverty and social exclusion

The PINOKIO project has already produced some sample tools for teachers and children that are available in the ‘Educational Environment’ section of this web site.

In addition partners decided to organise training activities for trainers who will support school teachers during the PINOKIO testing phase. The first session of training for trainers has been held in Venice (IT). The University of Cà Foscari-CIRDFA planned and delivered a training session to the Portuguese partners from the University of Madeira on the 12th and 13th March 2010. The next training for trainers session will be held in the UK by June 2010.

All the PINOKIO’s countries are involved in the testing phases – Italy, Portugal, the new UK partner and the Swiss silent partner. They will complete their training programme from September till November 2010. Between December 2010 to March 2011 PINOKIO will complete the core of the testing phase this will involve children, migrant children and their parents in specific ‘Intercultural Workshops’ and ‘Creativity Labs’.

At the same time ‘Project awareness sessions’ targeted at pre- and primary schools’ teachers are being organised within the partners countries. The first action was held in Madeira (PT) in October 2009, and a second one in Pescia (IT) in April 2010. The actions have the aim to present the project’s goals and activities to schools’ teachers, motivating them to take part in the new and exciting ‘PINOKIO’s adventure’!
